Crumblicious Bluecherry Crumble!

Last night I made a crumble with the fresh cherries and blueberries I bought fresh. I don’t suppose you can actually call this baking due to its imprecise nature… it falls into the hazy netherworld inbetween cookery and bakery. I apologise for the lack of pictures… this baby got eaten as the Bear and I played trival pursuit.

Since I didn’t measure anything out, the following recipe is only approximations… my favorite! Ahhh the beauty of a fruit crumble.

This makes just enough to feed one large bear and one medium sized gidget.

  • 15 cherries, halved and pitted
  • 15 blueberries halved
  • 3 tblsp white cornmeal
  • 1 small handful of oats
  • 3 tblsp + 3tblsp table sugar
  • 2 tblsp flour
  • 3 tblsp butter.

Mix one portion of the sugar with the cut fruit in a small ovenproof dish. Set aside.

In a separate bowl mix remaining ingredients using your fingers to work the butter in. Pour this on top of the fruit and bake (i used my toaster oven) at 400 degrees for 30 minutes, or until the fruit bubbles and the crumble topping is golden brown.

Set it out to cool for at least 20 munites, and use every ounce of your will power not to dig in too early. You will only scorch your tastebuds and ruin all your crumble fun. Please don’t ask me how I know this.
