Snow Daze

IMG_7763Lots and lots of weather happening here in the east. NYC missed the brunt of both Juno and Linus, but we still had our share of snowy, icy, slushy goodness.  Woolly accessories are in order. Scarves for everyone! 😀 -Marie

IMG_7545.JPGCould it really be… a whole year has whizzed by already?  I really hope you enjoyed this series of pictures.

See the complete year here!

I scouted a couple of different locations for next time around. I plan on doing this again next year, but I think I’ll shrink it down to once a month.

A 12 Project. 🙂

I’ll be posting the first picture next month (week). Have a happy new year!   IMG_7541.JPGIMG_7542.JPG

IMG_7411.JPGAnother grey December day in the city, the shop windows are sparkling with holiday lights and displays, shoppers are filling up the stores and thronging the streets. Last night I was out and those steely grey clouds spat out a few flakes, but nothing that you could actually call snow. I was hopeful that we’d get some of the white stuff, but alas no. On that note, if you can avoid going to Target on the Sunday evening before Christmas, I suggest you do. lol Horrible. Last night was the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for the days to get longer again. Where on earth has this year gone!? 😀

If you’re celebrating, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Solstice, have a great week! -Marie

Our corner is really starting to look like winter again. The weather has been quite warm really, for December, in the mid 40’s. Cold, but not freezing cold. Now that the trees are bare I love that you can see the squirrel nests tucked into the y’s of the tree limbs. I bet it’s quite cozy in there.  Only two weeks left of this project!  I’m still deciding on a new location for next year’s project. hmmmm.

You can see the entire year so far here.

IMG_7298.JPGCold and grey this morning in our little corner of NYC. We have a nor’easter headed our way for tomorrow, and two days of rain are forecast for us starting tomorrow morning. If only the thermometer was to dip a little further south we might get the white stuff. Either way I plan on staying in the cozy flat and maybe doing a little bit of baking. I think Nigella’s Gingerbread (or for the more serious bakers, here is the recipe with weights) is called for. It’s a holiday favorite in these parts. Christmas Crack. If you want to make the same tweaks that I do, add extra grated ginger to the batter, grate some lemon zest into the icing and swap out the cinnamon for all spice. Hope you have a lovely week!  -Marie

IMG_7027.JPGIt’s a gorgeous cold and rainy November morning this Monday. Quiet, foggy, subdued, a steady drizzle of cold rain. The trees on our corner are getting barer and more winter-like every day as we close in on the end of our year. Most would be unhappy with this kind of day, but I love being outside in the brisk wetness, it’s sort of moody and there’s a poetry in this type of weather. It makes going back inside extra cozy. While I would prefer to spend this type of day in my flat, with a little puttering, cooking and a bit of knitting… I am grateful to be employed. 🙂  If it’s not raining too much I might go for a little walk in the park later at lunchtime and take a few pictures.

Wherever you are, I hope you’re loving the weather- whatever it may be! -Marie
